Wendy Sloan, MS, LMHC Licensed Mental Health Counselor
As a Mental Health Counselor licensed in Florida, South Carolina, and Connecticut with over 24 years of experience, I provide compassionate and effective online talk therapy for preteens and teens ages 9-17, and adults. I also offer thorough ADHD evaluations for adults seeking clarity on their symptoms, a diagnosis for a primary care physician to prescribe medication, or accommodations at a college or university. I accept a wide range of insurance plans and can submit your claims for out-of-network (OON) benefits. Cash-pay clients are also welcome.
A native Floridian, I reside in beautiful Central Florida, where the sun is always shining (unless it’s raining, which happens a lot). I’m dedicated to providing compassionate mental health support to individuals across Florida, Connecticut, and South Carolina. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida State University, followed by a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.
With an impressive 25 years of experience in the mental health field and 22 years as a licensed professional, I've served the community in various significant roles that highlight my commitment to mental well-being. My career began as a psychometrician, where I spent over three years administering and interpreting a range of psychological tests. Think of me as a “mind detective,” helping uncover the mysteries of mental health through intelligence, memory, and personality evaluations, among others.
In addition to my work as a psychometrician, I have extensive experience as a therapist and intake assessor in community mental health settings. This hands-on experience has equipped me with the skills necessary to support clients facing diverse challenges. For over a decade, I worked in clinical research, conducting psychological testing and managing clinical trials for pharmaceutical companies developing innovative psychotropic medications. This unique background has enhanced my clinical expertise, enabling me to stay informed about the latest advancements in mental health treatment and medication.
I also have experience as a clinical program consultant, where I led and managed various projects from inception to completion. This role demonstrated my ability to adapt and thrive in different environments. In 2021, I founded my private practice, providing virtual therapy services that cater to preteens, teens, and adults. My focus is on helping clients navigate their mental health challenges and achieve their personal goals through tailored therapeutic approaches.
When I'm not in therapy mode, you can find me lacing up my running shoes, hitting the trails, or dreaming about my next travel destination. Whether it's running a 5K or planning a trip to a far-off land (or just the nearest dog park for Lulu, my dachshund), I love exploring new places and experiencing different cultures. My enthusiasm for running is only matched by my love for dogs, especially the very mischievous Lulu, who believes she's the boss of the house (and possibly my therapy practice).
By combining my extensive knowledge, skills, and passion for mental health, I am dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of my clients. Whether you’re seeking therapy for anxiety, stress, or coping skills, or an ADHD assessment, I am here to guide you on your journey to emotional well-being. And if you ever want to chat about running routes, travel tips, or the latest antics of dachshunds, I’m all ears!
